Sherrié Austin, Circus Girl
Hey would you look at her on the trapeze,
Up so high.
Bet nobody ever told the trapeze lady,
She can’t fly.
And she’s not afraid, she never looks down,
Never looks down …
Sherrié Austin is an Australian singer and actress. She performed as an opening act for Johnny Cash when she was just 14!
Her musical take on the circus is at once charming, romantic, melancholic and hopeful.
I’d most certainly welcome her on tour with us if she ever wanted to join the Zaboni caravan.

Question: How do you keep your costumes clean while on tour? Do you all go to laundromats or something? What if they get ripped?

It’s a little-known secret, Janice, but we travel with a wardrobe department. Well, really, it’s basically just Dottie and Jöhar. Married couple, been doing this about 30 years. They wash, press and prepare all our outfits, with help from interns or temps.
Dottie’s a seamstress, by trade; Jöhar knows boots and shoes. Can’t imagine life without them.
Let it be known that not every member of our circus team performs under the lights!
Some work diligently behind the scenes, making sure our show continues to enchant and thrill audiences around the world.
Wrapping things up for us is some comedy from Beetle Bailey and friends. One programming note: Sunday Special will be going on hiatus as of today. It may be back, on occasion! Never fear, the regular advice column remains as usual: every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
